Erin and I got a ride in Chopper Two for an ocean rescue exercise, here we are coming in for a landing at the fire station after the assignment. It was Erin’s first time in a helicopter and I doubt you could keep her from volunteering for future flights. A helicopter is a great platform to shoot photos from and see the island. I had to use my fisheye lens for many photos due to the cramped quarters of the small helicopter.

Erin does some reportage as we fly with a pair of lifeguards on the helicopter’s skids heading out to drop them into Kahaluu Bay.

Our ride. You’ll just have to read the paper to see more photos.
Movie of the Year…2505
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007
Bought a great movie, Idiocracy by Mike Judge. Yeah, it’s the same guy who brought us Beavis and Butthead and Office Space. It’s a dark comedy about what could happen in the world if we keep dumbing it down. The movie is hilarious at the fun it pokes at big corporations and I’m not even sure how the heck they got away with using so many corporate names and logos (Costco, Carl’s Jr, Starbucks, amongst others). But then again maybe they got permission somehow since instead of using the brand name Gatorade they use Brawndo instead.
The trailers for the movie online are terrible in that they don’t make sense out of context and because the movie drops the F-Bomb quite often some of the funnier lines couldn’t make it into the trailers. There is a rumour that 20th Century Fox didn’t do anything to promote the movie at all because of the blowback from corporations depicted in the movie along with FOX News appearing in the movie.
The voiceover narrator in the movie says, The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections. I think that sums it up.
WallStrip - If SNL blogged about stocks
Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007
One of my favorite video podcasts just got bought by CBS TV. WallStrip went for $5,000,000 and that’s a lot of zeros for a podcast that didn’t exist a year ago. Entertaining, informative, educational and a sexy host helps too…I’m talking about Lindsay, not Howard. Sometimes it’s like Monty Python or Saturday Night Live is creating the show.
Click on the logo above and learn a few things about red-hot stock market trends and some that have cooled to lukewarm too. It’s not an advice show on what stocks to buy as many of the stocks they cover are at their peaks and may tumble. I don’t care what WallStrip says about the company Crocs, their footwear is ugly as sin.

Back in the day we usually got lei made out of not just flowers but crack seed or if you were lucky tutu folded money into origami flowers to make a lei. But I guess that’s why these girls are champs, they have lei made out of granola bars.
