No diesel for you!

Chevron Diesel
Saw this at Chevron on the gas pump. Might want to hold off on buying that new 2007 turbo diesel vehicle folks. Apparently you’ll have to wait until October 15th for your fuel.

You can be happy to know that until Oct. 15th you too can add to acid rain in the earth’s ecosystem.

Chevy Tracker
Last night I drove through an automatic car wash, then brought the Chevy Tracker home and waxed it by streetlight. In the morning I attached a couple of signs to it, put a posting on Craigslist and drove to town to run errands and to do some laps at the Old A track (that’s where this photo was taken).

I got a nibble early on when someone wrote down my phone number for reference but hooked-up when a guy saw it parked in front of my apartment and begged me to take the signs off while he got the money together after a test drive. He got the cash together, I handed over the title and this is probably the last photo I’ll post of my old Tracker. The guy works on coffee farms so the 4×4 will come in handy for him. His buddies were pretty happy with the car too. Who knows, maybe the next cup of Kona coffee you drink will have been transported in my old Tracker.

And as for my Honda CR-V I bought I think I made the right choice. My 2006 CR-V has 8.1″ of ground clearance, the new 2007 model has 7.3″ of clearance. That’s less than my old Tracker’s 7.5″ which hit the skid plate a few times going out to Green Sands Beach and Mana Road. I’ll wait to see how Andrea’s lifted Jeep does before I try any crazy modifications (and I’ll wait for my car’s warranty to run out first).

Clearance Sale

Putting a few things up for sale.

Canon GL-1 camcorder
Maile’s Canon GL-1 videocamera is up for sale on Ebay. The camera is in excellent condition and the bidding starts at 25 cents. Hope it sells for a bit more than that.

*UPDATE* VIDEOCAMERA SOLD!

Also for sale is my 1999 Chevy Tracker. Now that its had all kinds of work done it’s running smooth now and the air-conditioner just got its compressor replaced so it’s a cool ride in Kona with it. I’ll probably get it listed in the newspaper and Craigslist.

At the end of the work day I looked to my Honda’s odometer to log my ending mileage and was greeted with this reading.

Gotcha Covered

Cover KingOkay, I gotta admit that I got the idea from Andi’s blog and her Wet Okole seat covers. I thought that’s a good idea as I have a moonroof and I just know I’m gonna stand on the front seats to shoot photos out the sunroof. Plus having something to protect the seats if I’ve gone to the beach, out in the rain or sooty from covering a brushfire. So here are the front seats done in my CR-V, still have to finish the back seats.

I know there are cheaper seat covers but they’re made out of non-waterproof fabric and more importantly they’ll cover up the side airbags from deploying from the seats. Not a good idea during an accident.

But seeing as how expensive Wet Okole’s are I found a similar seat cover made by Cover King. They claim to be better than Wet Okole covers but it might be just a Pepsi Challenge type of thing. But by ordering through Costco’s website I saved about $100 over buying the Wet Okole covers. So I thought I did pretty well, until I found this ad in the J.C. Whitney catalog online. It would have probably cost me only 1/2 of what I paid and even had a free car cover. It pays to do some research before shopping.

The CR-V is about done now. Got seat covers on, windows tinted, foam pads on the crossbars for the roof rack and the cargo basket figured out for the roof. About time for some kayaking and adventure.

*Okay, I checked the JC Whitney website and those covers are only for Jeeps. I don’t feel so bad anymore.

Gas Prices 2004
Found an old photo today of gas prices from 2004. Seems so long ago. Here the station attendant is raising the prices by putting new numbers up. And I thought gas prices were high then. Today’s prices are at over $1 higher.

CR-V Spy vs Spy
Brian sent me a photo of his CR-V captioned Spy vs Spy so I couldn’t resist putting both together.
