On the morning of September 11, 2001 in the early hours I couldn't sleep for some reason, I turned on the television and saw that the World Trade Center had been hit. I went to the office where folks were transfixed to the television, as we all were, and decided to head out to Kona International Airport where it was a ghost-town. Flights had been cancelled and a Japan Airlines jet enroute to California was escorted to land in Kona by the Hawaii Air National Guard F-15 fighters.
